We are talking about compassion.
Right away most of you will go “good” … “I love talking about compassion because I am a compassionate person.”
Of course you are, I mean we all are. We see those commercials on TV of the starving kids and pretty much shed a tear every-time. We have compassion down pat.
Jesus clearly defines what compassion is in the bible. He didn’t leave it open for you or me to describe. Christians will describe compassion but Jesus described it very clearly in the second most known story in the bible that he told.
in today’s message I’m gonna tell you the story so you know exactly what compassion looks like.
“‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will send you out to fish for people.’” Matthew 4:19
“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love….” John 13:35

Heart of compassion Luke 10:25-37
• Love your neighbor…Who is my neighbor?
• What neighbor love is
“‘Which of these three do you think was a neighbor…?’ The expert in the law replied, ‘The one who had mercy on him.’ Jesus told him, ‘Go and do likewise.’” Luke 10:36-37
Serves the least Matthew 25:31-46
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’” Matthew 25:40
Loves with fearless generosity
Libertas vs. charitas
“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.” Luke 6:32-35

sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.” 2 Corinthians 8:9
